Fashion Debate: Fishnet Tights – Hot or Not For 2012?

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

So if you ever get a job at 3am, remember not to wear Fishnet Tights and Red Heels. According to their fashion columnist the risqué combo is the ‘archetypal tart outfit’ after their not so favourite celebrity Imogen Thomas turned up wearing just that at an event last night. Over at ‘The Sun’ however it was a different story, Imogen was described as looking ‘suitably dressed’ for the rock themed occasion.

What’s your view? Fishnet/mesh is expected to be a huge trend for spring summer 2012. It was spotted on the catwalks over at Jaeger, Marios Schwab and Henry Holland, to name a few. According to 3am it was a short-lived trend in the 80’s are they about to be proven wrong? Will the Fishnet Hosiery trend hit the fashion headlines next season?

I want to hear your thoughts … let us know, comment below, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s start a debate!

Transform Those Pasty Pins Now!

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

Having resigned myself to the fact that my pins wouldn’t be seeing the light of day for at least the next 6 months, stripped of all fake tan, they we’re cruelly exposed to the unfortunate citizens of my town around this time yesterday afternoon. Anyone else experience a similar fate?

Tragic as it was I was unable to bear this incredible weather in my 100 denier black tights any longer. Enjoying a frappe-mocha-cappa-iced-raspberry-tea-sundae , or whatever it’s called, in the sun I bared my pale legs to the world.

It’s not an episode that I wish to repeat and so I promptly ordered a pair of Pretty Polly Naturals 8 denier tights, which are much more appropriate than my thick 100 denier black tights, and they’re due to be with me tomorrow (don’t forget to take advantage of our next day delivery service, more info below) so I can enjoy the rest this “Indian Summer” and bare my legs in style!

If you order any of our available products before 2pm and notify our customer care assistant of your order number by emailing customercare@cheekylegs.co.uk not only can we dispatch your item the very same day but for an additional £6.05 we can send your order to arrive with you the very next day! Order your tights, stockings, hold ups or anything else ready for the weekend!

Just When We Though It Couldn’t Get Any Better …

Saturday, September 17th, 2011

Ooo Henry Holland you do spoil us, you do! If you weren’t lucky enough to receive an invitation to his fashion show, (unlike some of our lucky customers!) and you haven’t had chance to browse through the fashion blogs, then let me be the first to tell you that Henry Holland’s Spring Summer 2012 Fashion Show was his best yet!

Translated into hosiery trends there’s obviously going to be a lot of fishnet about. Henry Holland cut holes into pale lilac fishnet tights; if anyone can make something not quite what it seems it’s Henry Holland, who’d have thought that fishnet tights could be feminine?Next season it’s all very seductive. Carrying on from this season’s provocative ‘Festish’ trend, the season ahead sees a lot of fishnet/mesh detailing and sheer layers; it’s all ever so sensual.

Elsewhere we saw a lot of ankle socks being used to accessorise the ‘Sporty’ look, another trend expected to be big for spring summer. Expect the yellow golds, warm rusts and leek greens, popular in 2011, to follow on into 2012.

Get ahead of the fashpack and order your fav’s now!

I’m currently in the process of creating a Spring Summer Hosiery Trend Report, if you’ve spotted something on the catwalks that you’d love to see included, use the comment box below to let me know!

Smelly Socks Save Millions of Lives

Friday, July 15th, 2011

If you thought that the potent smell of sweaty gym socks, lurking in the boot of your car or at the bottom of your gym bag,was nothing more than an irritating stench that you’ve spent months trying to banish prepare to be proven wrong.

Using a $400,000 grant experts are developing a synthetic attractant that mimics the sock smell and the other human emissions in a bid to kill malaria spreading parasite, mosquitos.

Scientists have discovered mosquito’s love to feast on the yeast bacteria found in sweaty socks and so Aid workers in Africa are hoping to use sweaty socks as bait traps that can kill thousands of Malaria bearing Parasites every night.

Those of us who are prone to being bitten by the deadly parasites may find this technique whilst going on holiday this summer, if you don’t mind the stench of smelly socks while you sleep, it’s a great, cheaper alternative to the fly repellents that you can buy in the airports!!!
