After being told that the recession was lifting (let’s not go too far into this…yawn) the powers that be, in the land of fashion, (Mr Karl Lagerfield, Mr Marc Jacobs, let’s throw a woman in here … girl power and all that, Mrs Stellar McCartney) decided that they’d simply had it with black and grey and threw in a few colours for us mere mortals to enjoy this season. Yay!

I’m glad the grey cloud’s lifted, but I’ve enjoyed finding myself terribly on trend for these past couple of seasons. How easy is it to dress in black?! Easy to match things to, slimming, stylish, chic … the list is endless.

Now it seems that I’m required (by fashion law of course) to inject my black hole of a wardrobe with some colour, which would be tremendously exciting if I wasn’t on a budget as restricting as my (black) Spanx Higher Power.

Writing a blog for a hosiery retailer my answer of course is going to be tights. I’m never going to start waxing lyrical about the benefits of pair of green tartan trousers, (of course I’m not, who would.) but from the part-time stylist in me they’re the easiest, most cost effective way of getting some colour into that dull dark last season wardrobe.

What’s your view? Fishnet/mesh is expected to be a huge trend for spring summer 2012. It was spotted on the catwalks over at Jaeger, Marios Schwab and Henry Holland, to name a few. According to 3am it was a short-lived trend in the 80’s are they about to be proven wrong? Will the Fishnet Hosiery trend hit the fashion headlines next season?

Tragic as it was I was unable to bear this incredible weather in my 100 denier black tights any longer. Enjoying a frappe-mocha-cappa-iced-raspberry-tea-sundae , or whatever it’s called, in the sun I bared my pale legs to the world.

Ooo Henry Holland you do spoil us, you do! If you weren’t lucky enough to receive an invitation to his fashion show, (unlike some of our lucky customers!) and you haven’t had chance to browse through the fashion blogs, then let me be the first to tell you that Henry Holland’s Spring Summer 2012 Fashion Show was his best yet!

Translated into hosiery trends there’s obviously going to be a lot of fishnet about. Henry Holland cut holes into pale lilac fishnet tights; if anyone can make something not quite what it seems it’s Henry Holland, who’d have thought that fishnet tights could be feminine?Next season it’s all very seductive. Carrying on from this season’s provocative ‘Festish’ trend, the season ahead sees a lot of fishnet/mesh detailing and sheer layers; it’s all ever so sensual.

If you thought that the potent smell of sweaty gym socks, lurking in the boot of your car or at the bottom of your gym bag,was nothing more than an irritating stench that you’ve spent months trying to banish prepare to be proven wrong.

Using a $400,000 grant experts are developing a synthetic attractant that mimics the sock smell and the other human emissions in a bid to kill malaria spreading parasite, mosquitos.

Scientists have discovered mosquito’s love to feast on the yeast bacteria found in sweaty socks and so Aid workers in Africa are hoping to use sweaty socks as bait traps that can kill thousands of Malaria bearing Parasites every night.

Those of us who are prone to being bitten by the deadly parasites may find this technique whilst going on holiday this summer, if you don’t mind the stench of smelly socks while you sleep, it’s a great, cheaper alternative to the fly repellents that you can buy in the airports!!!

If you had the figure of Jennifer Lopez what would you squeeze your critically acclaimed, bootlicious and over-insured (although very fabulous) bottom into? An LBD? Your pre-parenthood skinny jeans? Or perhaps a PVC Body Stocking?

I’ve got to admit, for me, it would be the PVC Body Stocking, but only if the airbrushing came as standard. Even with a body like J.Lo I think you’d be crazy not to expect the odd bit of cellulite, especially with all those strings. For a slightly less controversial, equally as seductive, body stocking try the Henry Holland Lace Body Stocking. It looks great as a base layer!

It seems the military operation, that is the fake tan routine, is being replaced by nude tights. The weekly fashion mags,

blogs and news sites are heralding the Middleton sisters as ambassadors of the Nude Tights resurrection however the true Tights enthusiasts amongst us will remember that it was this time last year when a stylist to the stars leaked that, when it came to perfect legs, Nude Tights were her secret weapon!

Stars such as Beyonce, who wore Nude Tights during her performance at Glastonbury, often refuse to perform without them! One of our celebrity stylists told Cheeky Legs how it was “Their ability to hide a multitude of imperfections including varicose veins, cellulite and un-even skin tone that makes Nude Tights such a hit with her A Listers. As well as hiding these sins they add a gorgeous healthy glow to every skin tone!”
